As the end of summer burns on, hibiscus continues to heat up. People around the world are reimagining the tantalizing taste of this unusual flower in unconventional cocktails and the trend has reached a fevered pitch as hibiscus flavored margaritas, martinis, and flavored bourbon mixes begin to win international awards.
For our infusion blend we mix delicate dried blossoms that even in their dehydrated form hold hints of its brilliant signature shade. But when you add your spirit of choice to the infusion bottle, be sure to stick around for the show as hibiscus paints the liquid with sunset hues within seconds of the first swirl.
The flavor of hibiscus flower is unique as well. On its own, it is notably sweet with a subtler layer of tartness and a dry after taste. To balance out the sweet, we added the added the warmth of cinnamon and just the right dash of orange peel to create a blend that is flexible and well suited to mingle happily with rum, whiskey, tequila and vodka. 2 oz tequila – infused with rokz Wild Hibiscus
4 oz orange juice
1 Tbl of Grenadine
Infuse your favorite tequila with rokz Wild Hibiscus Infusion. Add orange juice and ice into a shaker, shake until well chilled – about 20 seconds.
Pour into a glass with rimmed with rokz Lime Infused Margarita Salt.
Pour the Hibiscus Tequila over the ice and orange juice mixture and using a spoon, add the Grenadine.
Garnish with mandarin oranges slices.
Hibiscus Bourbon Tea
1 1/2 oz whiskey infused with rokz Wild Hibiscus
1 oz lemon juice
1 1/2 oz simple syrup
5 ounces tea
Infuse your favorite whiskey with rokz Wild Hibiscus Infusion (ideal infusing time – 4 days). Add the lemon juice, simple syrup, tea and ice into a shaker, shake until well chilled – about 20 seconds. Pour into a glass rimmed with rokz Citrus Petals Sugar. Add the Hibiscus tequila and enjoy. Garnish with a lemon slice.
