Some days it seems that no matter how much we crank up the thermostat, there is a perpetual chill in our bones. While a blanket and pair of fuzzy slippers can help, we need a little “something” to melt those ice crystals on the inside too.

rokz introduced a new infusion flavor with the warmth of cinnamon this winter – Cinnamon Spice, a delicious blend carefully sourced ingredients – superior quality cassia cinnamon, clove buds, cinnamon chips, lemon peel, orange and raw sugar crystals. Cinnamon is a traditional spice of the season for good reason—it’s zesty sweetness warms gently and thoroughly and is the perfect antidote to snowball-fight-numbed fingers and toes especially when paired with a little something from the liquor cabinet. Just add your alcohol of choice to our easy to use infusion bottle complete with a built in filter in the pourer and you are one step away from creating amazing cocktails.

At rokz, we want to preserve traditional cocktails but we don’t shy away from shaking things up a bit. Our lucky test kitchen samplers found whiskey and rum to be the favorite infusions. These were further tested to come up with a few savored recipes – a spicy whisky sour and a simple but delicious match with apple cider. Then we heated things up with spins on the classic toddy. Get creative and add a shot to coffee, hot chocolate or chai tea. Imagine a Mexican mocha with a splash of cinnamon spice rum!

So light a fire in the fireplace, grab your softest blanket and pour yourself a shot of your favorite cinnamon spice infusion. If you’re feeling fancy, rim your glass in sweet heat sugar. Hot Chai Toddy
1 cup hot chai tea
2 oz cream or nondairy milk
1 oz cinnamon spice infused whiskey or rum
garnish: cinnamon stick

Infuse your favorite rum with rokz cinnamon spice infusion. Use simple syrup or honey to wet the rim of a mug, dip in rokz caramel vanilla sugar. Mix the ingredients in your favorite mug. Use a cinnamon stick as a stirring spoon for extra zip.

Spicy Whiskey Sour
2 oz cinnamon spice infused whiskey
1 oz lemon juice
2 oz water
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
garnish: sugar or salt rim

Infuse your favorite whiskey with rokz cinnamon spice infusion. Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Rim an old fashioned glass with rokz lemon sugar or citrus jalapeno salt. Strain the mixture into the glass over a large ice cube or two and add a squeeze of lime.

Cinnamon Apple Jack
2 ounces cinnamon spice infused whiskey
3 ounces apple cider
garnish: cinnamon stick and sugar rim

Infuse your favorite whiskey with rokz cinnamon spice infusion. Fill a glass (highball glass or white wine glass) 1/4 full with ice cubes. Pour in the infused whiskey and top with apple cider. Stir gently until mixed. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and if you are feeling fancy, rim the glass halfway with rokz sweet heat or apple martini sugar.

Simplest Hot Toddy
2 oz cinnamon spice infused whiskey
4 oz hot water
1 squeeze of orange juice
garnish: orange slice

Infuse your favorite whiskey with rokz cinnamon spice infusion. Use simple syrup or honey to wet the rim of a mug, dip in either rokz caramel vanilla or mandarin orange sugar—or both! Add the ingredients and stir. Garnish with a slice of orange.
